A year ago, today, I made a personal commitment to writing this blog.
When I began, it was my intention to make regular postings on a variety of topics. My motivation was, "to expand the skill and mental energy that goes into producing thought-provoking stories, and rhyming and non-rhyming structural poetry."
For the most part, I think I've accomplished the expansion part of my initial goal, having written a variety of thoughtful and challenging articles, one new rhyming structural poem, and an opinion piece published in the Hamilton Spectator.
I've not been as prolific, though, as I expected to be: Today's blog-post, is only the nineteenth in this first twelve month period. I like to think I could have done better than averaging less than 1.5 posts per month; however, quality may have suffered if I'd concentrated too much on quantity.
As with most writers, I dream, not only of being published, but of one day being acknowledged as a talented and significant writer. For now, though, I write what I write because I'm inspired to express the thoughts that swirl around in my head, and I post what I write because I'm motivated to share.
And so, I'll continue to search for and style inspired thoughts and written words, and hope they will live on long after I'm gone.
